What’s an H1 heading? It’s the HTML code that surrounds a heading, which denotes the heading as the most important one on the page.

Just like the page title element, the H1 heading is used by Google and other search engines to 

understand what the topic of the page is. 

It’s a bit like a chapter heading in a book; it often summarises the content of that chapter. Because of this, it’s a good idea to try and add your main keyword into this heading, if it can be added in naturally.

You need to make sure your primary keyword the one you really want your page to focus on. Is it within the h1 tag on your page in the main heading because it’s a very powerful ranking signal for Google when they look at the content on your page and they see your main heading is covering the subjects that you want to rank for is really important, it’s your main headline and you don’t want to confuse Google and give them multiple major headlines across the page.

Use the h1 tag once use all the other tags below h1 in the hierarchy as many times as you like. Make sure you do your keyword research and really understand which keywords you’d like to target.
